Colour Authentication

Fancy Coloured Diamonds

The origin of colour in fancy coloured diamonds is of paramount importance to its value. A diamond will either be of natural colour origin as created by nature, or else it has been treated and enhanced by man.

DCLA authenticates all fancy coloured diamonds as natural prior to certification.

DCLA will not issue Diamond Grading Reports for colour treated diamonds.

A preliminary colour authentication service is available upon request.

Colourless Diamonds

Certain “white” diamonds may be enhanced to improve their colour as well. All diamonds that come into the DCLA laboratory are screened for enhancements, and referred for further testing if they do not pass the initial screening. DCLA will only issue a Diamond Grading Certificate for diamonds of natural colour origin.

Synthetic Diamond Identification

All diamonds that come into the DCLA laboratory are screened to ensure that they are natural and not man-made. Diamonds that do not pass the initial screening are referred for further testing.

DCLA will not issue Diamond Grading Reports for synthetic diamonds.

A preliminary synthetic diamond identification service is available upon request.
